OIG Audit Selection, Chicago IL

CTSHealth Selected in City of Chicago OIG Audit for Excellence in Accessible Mental Health Care

Chicago, IL — September 3, 2025 — We’re excited to share that CTSHealth was chosen as one of just six delegate agencies out of 146 providers to be highlighted in a recent City of Chicago Office of Inspector General (OIG) audit of the Mental Health Equity Initiative (MHEI).

This recognition affirms what we’ve always believed — that mental health care should be equitable, accessible, and responsive to the unique needs of every community.

What the OIG Found

• Community-Centered Care: Services reflect cultural, linguistic, and community needs.

• No Barriers to Care: No insurance or minimum fees required for services.

• Extended Hours: Clinics open into the evening (7–8 p.m.) to meet families ’schedules.

• Transportation Support: Agencies provide help with public transit, ride-shares, or even direct van service.

• Welcoming Intake: No discouraging or invasive intake questions — services are designed to be safe and accessible for everyone.

Why This Matters

The OIG emphasized the importance of diversity and inclusion, highlighting agencies like CTSHealth that are meeting Chicagoans where they are and breaking down barriers to mental health care.

“Being selected for this audit is both an honor and a responsibility,” said Carmen Cabrera, Midwest Executive Director. “It shows that our mission to provide care without barriers is making an impact in the communities we serve.”

At CTSHealth, we’ll continue to champion accessible, compassionate, and community-based mental health care — ensuring that every individual has the support they need to thrive.
