Psychosocial Rehabilitation

Psychosocial Rehabilitation - Outpatient clinic based rehabilitative skill-building services for individuals 18 years of age and older with serious mental illness or co-occurring psychiatric disabilities and addictions. The PSR interventions focus on identification and use of recovery tools and skill building to facilitate independent living and adaptation, problem solving and coping skills development.

Who Benefits From These Services?

Time with the therapist will be focused on learning new skills to process thoughts and feelings around the traumatic experience. For younger clients, both client and parent will learn to manage distressing thoughts and behaviors and enhance personal growth, safety and family communication. Parents will also regain confidence in their parenting.

Example Activities

  • Development of skills to be used in self-directed engagement in leisure, recreational and community social activities.
  • Interventions to address co-occurring psychiatric disabilities and substance use.
  • Cognitive behavioral intervention.
  • Individual or group skill building activities that focus on the development of skills to be used by clients in their living, learning, social and working environments.
  • Engaging the client to have input into the service delivery of psychosocial rehabilitation programming.
  • Client participation in setting individualized goals and assisting their own skills and resources related to goal attainment.
